hantavirus, or: how I learned to fear breathing
I'm supposed play cthulhu tonight, that should be quite fun, I just hope I have the energy to stay up late enough. I haven't been getting a terribly great quantity of anything resembling quality sleep. I've been restless and my exhaustion is being carried with me from day to day. I hope I feel better by tomorrow, there's quite a bit I'd like to get accomplished this weekend. Lately we've been facing the problem of mice in the house again. The animals have done a fairly cruel but efficient job of dispatching them... however I know there are more within the walls and cupboards. I'd like to clean everything this weekend and attempt to mouseproof wherever they may be living or gaining access to the house. The problem is more mentally unnerving than otherwise, as I can't escape from imagining that every peice of food, or every dish or glass is at best contaminated, and at worse contagious. Either how, it's been really discouraging and depressing.

cthulhu has unleashed his lesser spawn to conquer the worlds oceans
Actually, this is what happens when overfishing reduces the numbers of predatory species that keep jelly fish in check. These monsters lurk in ever greater numbers and have actually started to become an exponential threat given their love for fish eggs and larvae. I'm hoping this is actually the beginning of the apocalypse. Who would have suspected the humble jelly fish? Next evolutionary step however is levitation and death rays. You'll see soon enough mankind.. you'll see... I for one, welcome our new jellyfish overlords.

unrealistic goals or the pursuit of failure
I bought the wii fit last night and am quite thrilled so far. Albeit, the fitness analysis is quite blunt. I am, as I suspected in the overweight category. I blame beer and IT work. And laziness.... damn you laziness!! Well, before buying the wii fit, I had in mind to lose some weight already. I've been feeling uncomfortable as of late in my own skin, and figure dropping some pounds may well remedy that feeling. I set the unrealistic goal however of losing 20 pounds in a month. I figure I can perhaps accomplish this through moderate starvation and excessive exercise. I've set forth a planned regiment of one meal a day of Campbell's chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. I'm planning on spending at least an hour or more a day doing wii fit exercises, morning and night combined. We shall see in a months time how effective this is. Wish me luck.

rest in peace Kwai Chang Caine
David Carradine was found dead in a Bangkok hotel room of an apparent suicide. I prefer to imagine that he was cleverly offed by an international ring of ninja assassins... or at very least an extremely kinky Thai prostitute/yakuza hitman. As soon as I get out of work I'm going get an appropriate alcohol in which to pour in lamentation of his passing. The world will miss your kung-fu greatness. Ad astra per aspera.
On to other news... It's Thursday, which is in regard to work, is my Friday... so it's completely dead... Also, Tandberg pulled the keys to our video codec a month early without informing us. Which effectively renders our ITV classes inoperable. So there's even less going on than normally occurs in the summer session. All I really want to do right now is kick back with a beer and play some tetris. I need my block arrangment fix.
I'm obsessed with Buttersafe comics, they're brilliant and full of greatness.
